ABOUT THE Division General descriptionJoin the Information Technology division team as a Cloud Administrator Intern! Performs entry-level systems administration work. Work involves assisting with the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of cloud systems and environments. Assists in installing and upgrading computer components and system software. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Apply today and help the Comptrollers office keep the Texas economy strong. Work Hours Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 20-hour per week, Monday Friday. Occasionally work additional hours including evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Cloud support activities periodically require on-call responsibilities or work during non-standard hours. Hours may change based on business need. Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1-3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an accredited college or university, or a recent graduate within one year. Professional or Academic experience with systems engineering, system administrator. Preferred Qualifications Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an accredited college or university, or a recent graduate within one year with major course work in computer science, business information systems, computer information systems, or management information systems. Professional or Academic experience in infrastructure support and cloud systems. SUMMARY OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform moderate office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers. The capability of lifting between 15 and 50 pounds to move equipment from the floor, from a cart or to unpack equipment from shipping boxes onto a work surface (desk or table). Must be able to carry laptop home for on-call duties. Employees are required to use their personal mobile phones as a part of 2 factor/multi factor authentication for accessing CPA systems securely. You will also receive critical/emergency calls/texts on your cell phone to ensure immediate communication. In this role you will: Assist in troubleshooting support of systems hardware, software, and networking issues. Assists in preparing and maintaining operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and innovative systems administration techniques. Assists with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of cloud servers, operating systems, and applications Assists in performing systems software and hardware reviews May perform research for information technology systems processes associated with system software and hardware technology planning, development, implementation, security, and interfaces. May assist with defining and managing the roles and access privileges of individual users and devices to a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.
