Job Description

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown is seeking a dynamic, creative, and energetic Catering Sales Manager to join our team. As a Catering Sales Manager, you will proactively sell and solicit new and repeat catering bookings requiring less than 10 rooms. You will work in-conjunction with the Catering Services Manager on event details, making for a seamless transition between sales and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and actively solicit catering business accounts

  • Deliver proposals and contracts within 24 hours of request

  • Prioritizing weekly phone and in person business development initiatives

  • Prompt handling of inquiry calls and monitoring the efficient correspondence relative to confirming function details to the client

  • Conduct site tours and communicate thoroughly site tour needs to other departments

  • Prepares and reviews catering contract for accuracy

  • Follows Booking Guidelines

  • Maintain relevant booking activit ies, traces and updates

  • Maximize revenues for the hotel through up-selling techniques

  • Creates estimate for accounting of expenditures; ensures all deposits are collected according to deposit schedule in contract.

  • Recommend appropriate “in-house” and/or preferred vendors for group related services to drive hotel revenue

  • Maintain close client contact with effective communication to ensure guest satisfaction and establish closer working relations with repeat clients

  • Participate in daily and weekly sales meetings as assigned

  • Must be knowledgeable about all hotel capabilities

  • To be familiar with local attractions and businesses

  • Assist with the career development of sales/catering assistants

  • Attend department meetings and company required trainings

  • Achieve catering food, beverage and rental goals

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude

Qualifications

  • Prior Hotel experience or Event Sales Management experience is preferred

  • Excellent communication skills in all aspects: verbal, written and non-verbal

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Appropriate, professional appearance and presentation

  • Strong computer knowledge, with technical ability and/or aptitude to fully use Microsoft Word, Delphi/Salesforce (FDC), Excel, Outlook, and other management systems

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages

  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of the department

  • Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions

  • Ability to work well under pressure, dealing with many guest requests/questions within a short period of time

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Stand, walk or sit for an extended periods or for an entire work shift

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
