This is an excellent opportunity to work on the forefront of power delivery designs and technologies with the outstanding company consistently bringing innovations in the industry. In this position, you will be part of developing innovative designs, which are implemented in products used by millions of people. The position involves innovative off-line power supply development for Apple’s next generation iOS, Mac and Home platforms spanning from, portables, desktop computers, workstation, Apple TV, HomePod and standalone displays.

Description

Participate in core architecture investigation while working closely with Power architect; Select best design option for power metric performance optimization including but not limited to efficiency, power density, cost, reduced carbon footprint and scalability and reliability. Lead development of the power supplies from prototype level to the mass-production: Lead Power supply design concept definition in collaboration with multi-functional team and power supply module vendors in some cases Provide design simulation, calculations and analytical models for prediction of design concept outcome Provide design risk assessments, mitigation plans, development lessons learned and proof of concepts Provide design Schematic and BOM; Work with layout team for power supply layout. Conduct design and layout reviews with multi-functional teams. Implement robust design methodologies for successful project execution. Provide prototypes test and validation results, detail dynamic activities. Hands-on work in lab is must. Stay on top of groundbreaking technologies and perform driven bench marking for each project. Provide technical support for production issues debug and resolutions. Be a leader in innovation and teamwork

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in EE or related field plus 7 years of experience in power electronics

  • Candidate must have hands-on experience of power supply design and demonstrate deep knowledge of offline conversion topologies including Flyback, PFC, resonant converters and analog/digital controls loops

  • Candidate must be intimately familiar with power supply safety and environmental certifications requirements, power controllers, components, magnetic design, power supply layout and state-of the art techniques for efficiency optimizations including no load/light load efficiency techniques

  • Knowledge of control theory and basic embedded systems

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to guide critical decisions

  • Must have excellent communication skills with a strong ability to work effectively across Design, Operations Engineering QA, Reliability teams

  • Willingness to travel overseas periodically (approximately 10%)

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSEE with 5+ years of experience in power electronics

  • Must demonstrate good understanding of thermals, mechanical and packaging challenges

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of high-volume manufacturing technologies and production variance

  • Knowledge of wide band-gap power semiconductors

  • Prior work experience in computer industry and/or power supply module companies is a plus

  • Basic experience in embedded programming and debug for control systems

  • Proven record of working in fast paced innovative work environment

  • Must be highly motivated, self-starter with a passion for innovation, integrity and attention to details
