TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Accountant (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

To support our mission, we are looking for a Payroll Specialist II to join the Payables and Payroll Department. This position is located at 101 E. 15th St, Austin, Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Accountant II performs routine (journey-level) revenue processing work. Works under moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Audit documents for accuracy and compliance with departmental policies and procedures and state and federal statutes. -Classify, code, and post financial and accounting documents and records. -Receive financial instruments, prepares deposit slips, and maintains cash control records. -Process general journal entries. -Process revenue related vouchers. -Research and reconcile discrepancies in accounts, bank statements and resolve findings. -Review agency revenue collection records. -May assist in making recommendations for improvements, adaptations and accompanying procedures. -Perform other duties as needed.
YOU QUALIFY WITH: - One year and six months of full-time experience in accounting, finance, or a related field. -A license to practice as a certified public accountant in Texas will satisfy the minimum qualifications.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -18 to 24 months experience with auditing and administrative related duties. -18 to 24 months experience using accounting mainframe or software. -18 to 24 months experience using outlook, Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and SharePoint. -18 to 24 months experience handling confidential data. -18 to 24 months experience providing customer service.
