Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for adhering to production schedules, effectively operating CNC machines, and ensuring part specifications through precise measurements and troubleshooting techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) and proficiency in G-code programming.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to production schedules by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, material specifications, and machining parameters.

  • Interpret complex geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

  • Effectively operate CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.

  • Apply basic math, geometry, trigonometry, and proving parts to determine calculating requirements, using G-code and/or conversational programming as needed.

  • Set up CNC machines by programming, editing, installing, and adjusting tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and indicating parts with minimal to no assistance.

  • Safely load raw material by lifting stock into position and verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.

  • Ensure part specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, and facing. Take measurements to identify malfunctions, apply troubleshooting techniques, and take corrective measures.

  • Follow and adhere to all quality assurance procedures and processes.

  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer user instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and reporting issues for repairs.

  • Educate and train other machinists on production, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance policies and procedures.

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs; complete production and quality logs.

  • Achieve organizational goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests and exploring opportunities for continuous improvements.

  • Promote positive employee and customer relations by supporting a commitment to a working environment of tolerance, acceptance, and civility.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of CNC machining and setup experience

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints

  • Knowledge of GD&T

  • Experience in editing programs

  • Proficiency in G&M codes

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Micrometre, and Okuma machines

  • Experience with machine setup and tooling

  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers

  • Ability to inspect parts accurately

Work Environment

This position operates on the 1st shift (6 am-2:30 pm) with optional overtime. The work involves handling graphite, but our new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art air filters to ensure a clean environment. Employees are provided with uniforms.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00
