Job Overview

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and following established policies and procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures to support hospital inpatient or outpatient pharmacy operations.

Additional Information

Department: Network of Care Pharmacy Hours per week: PRN (as needed) Shift: Day/Evening, 0600-2300 (8-hour shifts). This position does require weekends and holiday commitments. This is a float position, and this team member will be expected to staff at both North Campus and South Campus.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent EXPERIENCE -One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience EQUIVALENCY - Completion of pharmacy technician program may substitute for the one (1) year of the experience requirement CERTIFICATION(S) - State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician (PHAT) Certification Certificate through a nationally recognized certification board or body approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA)

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - 30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Prepares preparing unit-dose nonhazardous and hazardous medications and drug supplies for dispensing as directed by a licensed pharmacist. Follows security/storage requirements of all medications including temperature monitoring. Takes inventory and analyzes patient-care area medication supply; replaces outdated medications; replaces depleted inventory; performs cycle count. Independently performs inspections for medication outdates. Restocks and delivers medications to patient care areas or clinics, as assigned, including automated dispensing machines; assists in resolving discrepancies. Prepares non-parenteral nonhazardous and hazardous medications for dispensing including controlled substances; delivers medications. Prepares parenteral medications for dispensing including controlled substances and may include any specialty area (such as chemotherapy, etc.) competency; maintains all required records for controlled substances.
