Job Description:

The successful candidate will work effectively with senior division leadership as well as business development, technical and functional entities for the purpose of achieving segment financial goals by engaging customers, identifying potential business opportunities, and supporting corporate and segment strategic growth activities. This position will be supporting the Spectral Solutions division and will lead the division’s Enterprise Ground campaign supporting Civil and Commercial customers with emphasis on NOAA and NASA weather and environmental mission areas.

Essential Functions:

As part of the business development team and in partnership with corporate and business segment leadership, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead Spectral Solutions initiatives associated with new business growth areas

  • Serve as liaison to the segment growth initiatives representing Spectral Solutions interests

  • Foster relationships with teammates, consultants, and subcontractors to gather insights and develop partnerships that position L3Harris to capture new opportunities

  • Help identify new markets, unmet needs and opportunities for division campaign initiation

  • Develop identified segment campaigns for opportunity generation

  • Prioritize campaign engagements leveraging Senior Management participation

  • Support the collection of competitive intelligence and information to enhance L3Harris understanding of customers and competitors’ strategies

  • Support the gathering and analysis of Government and Customer Budget data for strategic decision-making

  • Create and foster a business acumen culture which embraces a strategic, proactive approach in supporting business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and closing new business

  • Assist capture teams in the preparation of competitive assessments and win strategy development

  • Represent L3Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry related meetings and conferences

  • Collaborate with related functions to advance business pursuits and advocacy including marketing, communications, government relations, business development leaders, and capture teams

    Business Rhythm:

  • Support the qualification process of new opportunities and “connect the dots” between other L3Harris segments/sectors/divisions to ensure we provide best value to customers

  • Understand and influence segment strategies with customer perspectives

  • Embrace a culture of “continual learning” to improve our understanding of the technical drivers our existing and potential new customers seek to improve their missions

  • Translate technical understanding of products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagement

  • Estimate and manage new business funds for pursuing new business opportunities and participate in strategic planning for internal research and development

  • Execute campaign strategies relative to business capture planning

  • Lead / support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes

  • Act as a change agent for the business, ensuring strategies and campaigns are mission and customer focused

  • Organize participation in forums/conferences to further position L3Harris as a thought leader in the space industry related to specific strategic opportunities

  • Work with technical subject matter experts to define R&D projects to shape future concepts and provide solutions to customers

    Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with senior executives at relevant government agencies, major prime contractors, small and new-space companies

  • Established contacts with NOAA, NASA HQ and Goddard Spaceflight Center customers particularly in the Weather, Environmental and Earth Science mission/market areas

  • Experience and established contacts with relevant industry players in these markets, including network of small business set-aside contractors active with NOAA and NASA

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 8 years of experience or post graduate degree and 5 years of experience. Engineering degree desired, but not essential

  • Understanding and familiarity with Ground Segment market trends towards Ground Segment as a Service, cloud processing and AI/ML applications

  • Understanding and familiarity with broader civil and commercial space, weather and climate markets

  • Familiarity with current and trending technologies that underpin Ground Segment elements, such as antennas, communications, command and control, cloud computing, data processing & artificial intelligence. Familiarity with space-based hardware and interaction with ground assets is also desirable

  • Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight

  • Experience leading new business pursuits

  • Ability to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed people

  • Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis

  • Must work independently under limited supervision

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to Travel – up to 20%

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools

  • Preferred Clearance: Security clearance not required
