Report accurate results, evaluate results for clinical significance and validity, and recognize atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
Perform all laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies, including participation in proficiency testing and familiarization with regulations and quality indicators.
Ensure quality control is acceptable, instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits, and documentation is completed.
Work to minimize errors and take responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot equipment and assay performance when results are questionable.

Complete quality assurance activities such as maintenance, statistics, calibration verification, and quality control review.
Procure blood from patients by venipuncture, fingerstick, or heel stick to obtain blood samples for analysis following age-specific guidelines.
Participate in procedure review and writing
Perform validations, verifications, and implementation of new assays.
Assist in competency assessment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board Certification - Medical Laboratory Scientist, or ability to obtain
SALARY: $46,696.00/ year
