Job Overview

Manager of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) is responsible for oversight of CDI operations at all Children's Hospital Colorado locations.Ensures CDI operations support hospital policy, medical staff by-laws and regulatory and legal requirements, maintains departmental policies and procedures accordingly.Works in association with the CDI staff, clinicians, coders, and all members of the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the medical record.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Associates Degree in Nursing EXPERIENCE - Five (5)years of experience to include: two (2) years of experience within Clinical Documentation Integrity, one (1) year managerial or supervisory experience and two (2) years of bedside nursing. EQUIVALENCY - None CERTIFICATION(S) - Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner (CDIP) LICENSURE - Registered Nurse Licensure.

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops, manages, and coordinates policies and procedures to support CDI practices, workflows, and guidelines.Assures evidence-based practices by creating an environment that encourages the use of research and vision in developing and improving operational processes. Manages team members and day-to-day operations of clinical documentation integrity to ensure consistency, meets compliance guidelines, and ensures appropriate and effective reimbursements in cooperation with key areas throughout the organization. Establishes and monitors employee workflows, productivity, and quality. Develops and implements clinical data reporting systems and uses analytical assessment of data, data manipulation to professionally articulate data outcomes for the improvement of operations. Provides education to providers a needed to support hospital operations ensuring accurate and complete medical record. Works with Medical Staff as needed.Educates clinical documentation staff on issues related to the government mandated Inpatient Prospective Payment Program (MS-DRGs) and works collaboratively with the coding leaders. Collaborates with appropriate revenue cycle and clinical areas in response to documentation denials/appeals on audited claims, documentation initiative, query policies, physician, and staff education.
