Job Overview

The Lab Quality Coordinator supports quality assurance activities within the department and compliance with the requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Additional Information

Department: Lab Administration Support Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, work hours may vary due to department needs. No weekend or on-call commitments

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institutio

EXPERIENCE - Two years clinical laboratory experience required. 5 years of laboratory experience preferred

EQUIVALENCY - Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Must also have working knowledge of Word processing, Excel spreadsheet & graphs, statistical analysis, Power Point presentations, and flow diagrams.

Ideal candidates have experience in lab quality and regulations. Strong candidates will have expertise in excel and data analysis.

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Facilitates and monitors quality management activities for the department. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of current laboratory regulations (such as CAP, AABB, FDA, TJC, and CLIA) and quality indicators and actively participate in accreditation readiness and laboratory inspections. Coordinates and participates in procedure review and writing. Provides clerical support for departmental QA activities. Partners with leadership in design of annual departmental quality indicators; assists with preparation of quality reports such as data collection and graphing. Supports in the preparations in responses to inspections b external regulatory and accrediting agencies. Partners with leadership in the implementation of identified changes. Actively participates in quality improvement projects such as auditing, analyzing data, and documenting. Participates in recall notifications follow-up and other occurrence-related activities; Tracks and trends departmental activities to identify process deviations and other indicators in need of corrective action and process improvement.
