Job Title: HR Generalist (Open Rank – Intermediate-Senior HR Professional)

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Hiring Duties (40%)

  • Assist with University Staff searches

  • Evaluate job descriptions and ensure they are appropriate to the position request using University and State of Colorado benchmarking standards

  • Liaise with Central HR and SOM HR, maintaining relationships with key business partners to ensure that job descriptions and postings adhere to University best practices

  • Conduct intake calls with hiring managers and assist with recruitment where requested, which could include, but is not limited to:

  • Evaluating candidate qualifications and making recommendations to the hiring authority and search committee

  • Scheduling interviews between candidate and search committee Advise hiring committee on best practices

  • Serve as first point of contact and information source for selected candidates

  • Draft and route Letters of Offer

  • Initiate background check and reference requests, and complete hiring requests.

Transaction Specialist Duties (40%)

  • Process personnel and position changes in Human Capital Management (HCM)

  • Utilize Smartsheet to track various HR processes

  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing of vacation payouts, funding distributions changes, secondary appointments, POI access requests, I9, and various HR Transactions as assigned

  • Manage student postings, recruitments, and hires

  • Process reappointments as needed

  • Responsible for maintaining faculty and staff files

  • Provide Human Resources guidance on hiring, recruitment, and job changes to various divisions

  • Other HR Specialist duties as assigned

Other Duties (20%)

  • Assist with payroll processes

  • May assist divisions with internships, observerships and volunteer positions

  • Assist with New Employee Orientation process

  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures and process improvements

  • Participate in and assist with planning HR team development activities

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Level

  • A bachelor's degree in business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One year (1) of experience working in Human Resources

Senior Level

  • A bachelor's degree in business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two years (2) of experience working in Human Resources

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related experience working in an academic medical center

  • Experience utilizing Human Capital Management (HCM), Smartsheet, and CU Careers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.

  • Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive information.
