This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position for an Entry Laboratory Sciences Professional who will work on several NIH funded research studies processing muscle and adipose tissue samples and perform bench laboratory research. Both studies involve micro-dissecting intermuscular adipose tissue from human skeletal muscle biopsies followed by generation of conditioned media to capture the secretome of this tissue. There will also be collection of adipose tissue samples from other sites that will also be used to make conditioned media. These studies require availability for early morning clinical research visits and scheduling flexibility. Laboratory duties include microdissection of human muscle biopsies, adipose and muscle tissue explant conditioned media generation, western blot analysis, and general laboratory analysis (ELISA) in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes. The general theme for these studies is investigating how skeletal muscle lipids and adipose tissue in skeletal muscle relate to diabetes risk in vivo and in vitro.
