The Opportunity Ulteig is excited to announce we are seeking a talented motivated and detail-oriented Engineer in Training (EIT) with a focus on Civil/Structural engineering to join our bridge team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers to contribute to a range of small to large multi-discipline projects, primarily responsible for the design of bridge-related transportation projects, reviewing and developing plans from initial design through construction, and performing load ratings. The candidate will also have the opportunity to perform the NBIS inspection and structural analysis of highway structures. This role will be a mix of field and office work, if you do not want to be at a desk every day and apply engineering skills, this position could be for you. Candidates must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment with strong attention to detail. What You'll Do Provide technical expertise in the resolution of design problems Perform field investigations and NBIS bridge inspection Assist with providing practical rehabilitation recommendations based on the observed conditions Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and ensure structural integrity and compliance with relevant codes and regulations Coordinate specific design aspects of a project requiring the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with the team Perform load ratings based on gathered field data and as-built plans Work on projects associated with multiple State DOTs. Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and other team members to ensure successful project delivery with assigned responsibility for the administration of engineering projects Travel up to 50% of each month What We Expect from You A minimum of B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or similar field, Master's degree preferred Engineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in 6 months is preferred A minimum of 2 years in the civil/structural engineering field Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), additional software knowledge depending on specialization Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is preferred Experience in bridge load ratings and AASHTOWare Bridge rating BrR is preferred Experience using bridge/structural design software such as OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, or RISA-3D/STAAD preferred National Highway Institute (NHI) coursework (Bridge Safety Inspection, Fracture Critical, Underwater Bridge Inspection, etc.) certification is preferred Prior experience performing NBIS bridge inspection as an assistant team member is preferred Excellent verbal/written communication Excellent time management skills Superior interpersonal and organizational skills Must have permanent authorization to work in the US Must be willing to travel Pass pre-employment substance abuse screening and background check As you consider applying for a position at Ulteig, we encourage you to think outside the box - because we do!
