Job Overview

The primary responsibilities for the Athletic Trainer are to provide superior rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients, educate the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues, and maintain the highest standards of care to student athletes under the direction of the team physician. The Athletic Trainer I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP). Team members in this position may work in a clinical setting or an outreach setting. In a clinical setting, the Athletic Trainer I performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and communicates findings. In an outreach setting, the Athletic Trainer I provides daily medical coverage for trainings, practices and events. As an entry level position, team members in this position receive direct supervision and guidance from higher level Athletic Trainers, supervisors and/or providers regarding proper documentation in medical notes, medical terminology, use of "dot phrases", relationship building and time management.

Department Name: Sports Medicine Job Status: PRN, As needed based on department needs Shift: The PRN position is not a full-time position. This athletic training position will help support our club and high school partnerships in the outreach setting. The PRN shifts are primarily weekend and evening shifts with our outreach partnerships along with Summer tournaments/event coverage, which includes weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field. Certification(s): Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) License for Athletic Trainer.

These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

Serves as a liaison between family physicians and/or specialists and the school district, athletes and their parents. Also, coordinates care between parents, medical assistants, physicians and/or physician office staff.
