Merck Specialist, Logistics - Export Specialist (Remote) in Augusta, Maine

Job Description

This role will be primarily responsible for ensuring our Company Research Laboratories’ U.S. exports are declared and shipped in compliance with U.S. regulations and Company standards. Effectively and compliantly execute, review and/or consult on U.S. Export shipments from all our Research & Development Division research and clinical sites and its U.S. vendors. In this position, you will work with various intercompany partners including: Global Trade Compliance (GTC), Distribution Planning, Global Clinical Trial Operations (GTCO), site shipping personnel and Clinical and Research stakeholders and constituents across all U.S. Our Company locations.

In this position, you will strengthen our Company Research Laboratories’ ability to perform U.S. Exports in an effective and compliant manner by becoming a valuable member of the team.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Preforming export transactions in a Global Trade Management System (GTMS) for our Company site and vendor site exports

  • Reviewing and amending export transaction in a Global Trade Management System

  • Working with country requirements to provide relevant Trade Documentation

  • Acting as primary contact for our Companyshipping sites in U.S. Export Transactions

  • Work within our our Research & Development Division Trade Operations Standard Business Practices and align with policy set by Global Trade Compliance

  • Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of the policies and practices of the U.S. Census, U.S. Customs and other participating government agencies involved in export regulation

  • Influence intercompany stakeholders to comply with Standard Business Practices related to trade and/or export

  • Contribute to special projects and assignments related to international trade as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in years of experience, in International Trade or International Business

  • Minimum of 5+ years functional expertise with international trade or international business.

  • Knowledge of US Commerce and Foreign Trade Regulations, specific to exportation

  • Trade related certifications desirable

  • Prior experience interfacing with international partners

  • Experience with Microsoft software products

  • Prior experience with Global Trade Management Systems, i.e. SAP Global Trade Services, Thomson Reuters, Amber Road, or similar databases highly desirable.

  • Keen attention to detail, particularly in executing and reviewing declarations and documentation for adherence to export requirements

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
