OUR ROLE

We need someone to support clients who call or walk-in to enroll for the Driver Education and Evaluation Program (DEEP) at the Office of Behavioral Health; specifically, to help clients choose the appropriate program, register, pay, and then to create, file, and mail the associated documents. Most of the client interactions will be over the phone, and all the registration and follow-up processes are computer-based.

This is a full-time on-site customer service role in a busy professional office. It reports to the DEEP Program Manager and is based in Augusta.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is dedicated to promoting health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the State's population, including children, families, older Mainers, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.

YOUR SKILLS

To minimally qualify for this position you need Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with receptionist or call center experience. Someone who has answered in-bound calls, completed required documentation and provided customer service in a high paced environment. Someone who can type varied routine business correspondence from draft or original source documents to revised or final form. Someone familiar with MS Office suite, standard office equipment, filing and data management. Someone who can work as part of a team to accomplish office goals, with a positive attitude toward serving their fellow Mainers.
