JOB SUMMARY

The Student Success Coach helps current and prospective students from various backgrounds to strengthen their self-efficacy, academic and career goals, learning strategies, financial and time management, and organization skills in alignment with EGSCs mission, vision, and strategic goals.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Engage students individually and/or through small groups by initiating and maintaining regular contact to build rapport with students in assigned caseload to develop academic goals and academic action plans.
  • Develop, organize, and lead student workshops and/or create and disseminate information via multiple media on various topics, including, but not limited to, self-efficacy, academic and career goals, learning strategies, financial and time management, and organization.
  • Work collaboratively with EGSC faculty and staff to refer students to appropriate campus resources when academic intervention or support is needed.
  • Respond to current and prospective students calls, texts, and e-mails within a 24 to 48-hour timeframe when possible.
  • Participate in professional development activities to remain current on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain student records and monitor academic progress and performance of caseload.
  • Perform outreach to local high school students and their families related to applying to and paying for college.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of coaching, mentoring, and teaching techniques.

Knowledge of current and emerging trends related to college students, student academic support, and student retention.

Knowledge of the University System of Georgia and College policies and procedures.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Proficient skills in using Microsoft Office Suite or other similar programs.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written), time management and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Ability to work with a diverse population.

Ability to work well independently and collaboratively.

Ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
