  About the Role:

  As a Mechanic/Assistant, you will work under the supervision of Augusta's Shop Foreman/Head Mechanic. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in all areas of equipment repairs and maintenance.

• Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing various systems on construction equipment and vehicles.

• Managing equipment inventory and quality control.

• Participating in all company safety programs and maintaining daily shop logs.

• Overseeing shop operations in the manager’s absence.

  Essential Job Functions:

  • HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING IN THE OPERATION OF GAS AND DIESEL ENGINES, ELECTRICAL, HYDRAULICS AND SAFETY SYSTEMS OF EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES.

  • PERFORM ROUTINE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ON OWNED, RENTED, LEASED EQUIPMENT.

  • HAVE THE ABILITY TO APPROPRIATELY USE WELDERS, TORCH SETS AND CUTTING SAWS.

  • PROFICIENTLY AND SAFELY OPERATES EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND MAKE REPAIRS.

  • PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS AND TRAINING ON PROPER METHODS AND PROCESSES NECESSARY TO PERFORM EQUIPMENT REPAIR, INSPECTION AND PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

  • ABILITY TO READ SCHMATICS AND PARTS MANUALS IN ORDER TO COMMUNICATE WITH VENDORS TO ORDER NECESSARY PARTS.

  • MAINTAIN AND ORGANIZE TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SHOP INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR AREAS IN AN ORGANIZED, CLEANLY AND SAFE MANNER.

  • WILL TRAVEL AT TIMES TO PROJECTS TO HAUL AND PICK UP EQUIPMENT, TROUBLESHOOT AND PERFORM MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS TO EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED.

  • COMPLETE TIMELY AND ACCURATE EQUIPMENT RECORDS ON WORK PERFORMED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MAINTENANCE HISTORY SHEETS, PURCHASE ORDERS AND INVOICES.

  • ABILITY AND WILLINGNESS TO WORK IN OUTDOOR SEASONAL WORK ENVIRONMENT, HOT, COLD, RAIN, MUD, DUST, ROCK, ETC…

  Qualifications:

  • A two year associates of applied science degree in diesel, heavy equipment maintenance or similar field, or any combination of education and/or work experience in a related field

  • Must have a clean driving record

  Salary:

  • $18-$20 per hour, DOE
