The E. John Gavras Center is seeking a School Nurse for our Inclusive Preschool for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
The school nurse works the 10-month school year and six-week summer program.
The Registered Nurse is responsible to render health care to children, adults, and staff; advise and make recommendations to parents; assist staff physicians; prepare and review records in preparation for doctor's orders; conduct staff health assessments; monitor agency health needs; implement regulations of State Health Department; update charts and immunization records.
Monitor and assess medical concerns. Monitor and assess all incoming medical records. Insure that physician's orders for therapy services are updated every 90 days. Maintain emergency treatment, immunization, release of information and other forms as necessary. Provide routine and emergency first aid nursing care to children. Complete all required documentation and reports according to program regulations (NYS DOH, and NYSED) including childrens quarterly and annual medical reviews and charts. Provide nursing and medical in-services to agency staff. Collaborate with other team members on childrens IEP/IFSPs as needed. Maintain medical equipment and supplies. Conduct annual staff health assessments. Administer annual Mantoux TB tests to staff. Coordinate services with other health and community agencies. Supervise nursing students. Attend safety committee, incident committee and Quality assurance meetings as necessary. Meets with the Principal regularly. Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners on medical issues. Achieve MAT Trainer certification so that an RN has the ability to certify and recertify all MATs on an as needed basis. Review and act on all incident reports. Address medication errors with documentation and corrective actions. Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees. Ensure compliance and all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards are being met. Education & Experience
AAS Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Current New York State Registered Nursing license required. Clearance from Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) which includes NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services, FBI, Statewide Central Register Database Check and NYS Justice Center. Ability to provide documentation demonstrating that you are able to legally perform work in the United States. Valid NYS Driver's License. Benefits:
