Nesco Resource Weld Technician in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Nesco Resource is seeking talented Weld Technician Associates for one of our long-term clients in the Auburn Hills area. This is a 3rd shift position, with hours from 10 pm to 6 am Monday through Friday, and sometimes overtime on weekends.

The Weld Technician performs various operations and support of our weld equipment, including, but not limited to, weld changeovers, using hand tools, jigs, fixtures, light power tools, and equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies
  • Utilize 5s principles to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Understand and follow all required DOS standards.
  • Responsible for welder changeovers and charting changeovers to track continuous improvements.
  • Responsible for notification to leadership for all worn, lost, and broken tooling.
  • Maintain all tooling carts and know what value stream the tooling is for.
  • Understanding of weld run-out parameters and demonstrating the ability to adjust to engineering specifications.
  • Understanding of weld faults, how to clear the faults, and the ability to set up the next part runs on the welders.
  • The ability to learn and commit to continuous improvements to reduce set-up time.
  • Train production personnel to set up and operate new and/or updated production welding equipment, tooling, and gauges.
  • Coordinate team efforts to improve department measurables (Scrap, Cost, Efficiency).
  • Performs routine autonomous maintenance on equipment as defined.
  • Complete a daily pre-shift and changeover checklist.
  • Performs all position responsibilities safely and in accordance with all prescribed time schedules.
  • Supports total quality management objectives in a team environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Able to read a tape measure and micrometer.
  • Able to read and understand process work instructions.
  • Ability to perform bench layouts of welded assemblies.
  • Ability and willingness to make suggestions to supervisor as to changes or improvements to be made in product or work area.
  • Motivated and accepts responsibility.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of machines and materials.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends.
