THE POSITION

Sr Systems Engineer -- System Architect, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:

Analyze customer requirements to create system architecture to satisfy customer needs for the Articulated Running Board (ARB), this product is used on high vehicles like pickups or SUVs to make easier the entry or exit from the vehicle`s cabinet; and Power Tailgate Modules (PTM), is a device that is used to control the tail door to open and close it in a more comfortable way or automatically. Analyze the interfaces between the components to describe their interaction in graphical ways as part of the System Architecture for ARB and PTM products. Perform a Safety Analysis based on customer requirements to express in a quantitative way the possible risks and describe the methods to mitigate them. Create reports based on DXL programming language to analyze the maturity of the work product, release, readiness, or customer reports for the FCA and GM products. Work with the disciplines to clarify System Architecture topics that are input for other work products like HSIS, SFMEA, Integration Plans for ARB, and PTM products. Support cross-discipline teams aiming to clarify the design/implementation of SW requirements and improvements on product testability. Ensure that all the changes on the principal database, DOORS, are properly documented. Create relationships between sources of information with new requirements (create DOORs links). Support solving customer problem reports on systems-related topics using JIRA to keep track of the analysis and DOORS as a source of data.

Telecommuting permitted up to 50% per week.

Full-time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Using system or product architecture methods and integration processes, including case analysis, flow charts, sequence Diagrams analysis and composition, state machine analysis, timing diagrams and SysML methodology;
  • Using requirements analysis and validation techniques, including system requirements derivation, customer requirements interpretation and analysis of system test cases;
  • Using DOORS or Rhapsody to manage project requirements;
  • Interpreting schematics and software components deployments, including interconnections diagrams or AUTOSAR connections;
  • Using automotive modules, including interfacing between modules, using diagnostics and using CAN, LIN and UDS protocols;
  • Engaging in ASIL and SysFMEA analysis; and
  • Engaging in technical problems solving, including troubleshooting modules and performing CAN log and requirement analysis.
