Description

This Controls Engineer will be focused on supporting the launch of the customer product line as the client is increasing production. The product is a disposable ultrasonic transducer (disposable facelift device) and Jabil is the contract manufacturer that is responsible for assembling the product. They build to print and Merz wants Jabil to double their capacity as their product is selling at a rapid pace. Merz also has about 12 engineering changes to their product so there will be variations as to how the product will be made/assembled. For example they are switching to a new adhesive and these engineers will need to record on how much adhesive to apply, do weight checks, as well as other data collection. They will collect this data to drive process improvements and work with the tooling engineers to do so. They will make suggestions to the engineers based off the type of data collected.

The focus will be on fixing equipment form a controls standpoint. They will be doing programming, troubleshooting, debugging, and possible controls design and layout. This person will be reactive when machines need fixing. For example they will have 10 fixtures that need to be wired up and controls done to them. They also just got a new machine in that needs layout from a controls standpoint.

This is a backfill position as someone moved to another group and they need support as they are doubling output of product required by Merz.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support overall manufacturing process development including the manufacturing line layout; automation equipment identification and selection; and tooling identification and selection (such as stencils, wave/reflow pallets, assembly fixtures, and prep dies.

Support line balancing activities, including structuring the internal bill of materials in alignment with manufacturing processes.

Implement changes to continuously improve quality and process efficiencies.

Create and maintain documentation required to support the production process utilizing process flow diagrams; procedures, work instructions, and visual aids; Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA); assembly Request Forms

Author and execute equipment qualifications (IQ, OQ)

Create programs for various manufacturing equipment.

Review and analyze key metrics.

Drive corrective actions in response to product quality issues or process failures.

Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal staff to resolve manufacturing-related issues.

Support new product quoting process by reviewing customer-supplied data and creating assumptions related to establishing a production process and estimating product run rates.

Assess actual performance to quoted rates and take action to minimize gaps.

Provide on-call support to resolve engineering-related issues arising beyond normal business hours.

Work safely at all times and complies with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

• 3 years of PLC programming

• 3 years of HMI experience

• Able to do 24 Volt controls wiring

• 3 years of controls exp on a PC (i.e Panel View)

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment

NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous Medical device experience

• Robot experience

• Controls Design exp

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00
