LimnoTech is seeking a research scientist or research assistant to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Laboratory Water Quality and Contaminant Modeling Branch. This research is related to water quality modeling and assessing the impacts of environmental events on waterways and dams. The selected candidate will provide services for data collection, model coding, and integration of water quality, hydrology, and species-specific physiological and behavioral parameters relevant to species navigation and infrastructure management. This is an in-person position located in Auburn, Alabama. Position Responsibilities The hired candidate’s activities are expected to include the following:

  • Literature reviews

  • Development and implementation of experimental methods to collect data

  • Data analysis

  • Development of a database of fish swim performance in relation to stresses

  • Development of a model of fish movement in response to water quality changes

  • Preparation of detailed technical reports as well as monthly progress reports

  • Presentation of research findings via poster presentation

    The position requires occasional travel for trips lasting 3-5 days each.   • Advanced degree in biology, fisheries, or related field.

  • Experience with statistical data analysis, including coding.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience researching the response of aquatic organisms to stressors is preferred.

  • Must be legally able to work in the U.S. for any employer (proper documentation is required).
