Custodian

  • Current knowledge of maintenance and custodial products and procedures.
  • Experience in dealing with outside groups of people.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to deal with emergency building situations.

: Department Supervisor or Superintendent/Superintendent Designee.

: Custodial

  • Building, hours and duties will be assigned by the Department Supervisor Superintendent/Superintendent Designee.
  • Shall prepare buildings for events such as assemblies, meetings, or evening functions. Assist in setting up for Athletic events as needed. Clean up after events
  • Shall be responsible for opening of school each morning and in general get school ready for the day. (heat, lights, snow removal, etc.)
  • Shall be responsible for closing of the school each night. (Doors, gates, lights security, etc)
  • Weekend building check on rotation as scheduled.
  • Weekend events that require use of the building, a custodian will be scheduled to work on a rotating basis based upon seniority.
  • Test drinking water and record results (as needed)
  • Septic plant check and record results (as needed)
  • Inspect the building regarding cleanliness, safety, maintenance and structural soundness on a daily basis.
  • Perform other assignments essential to the operation and maintenance of the building.
  • Complete all task assigned through area specific Daily task sheets
  • Responsible for cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of buildings inside and outside. This includes but not limited to:
  • INSIDE: Sweeping, mopping, waxing, sanitizing, painting, trash removal of all areas including floors, walls, ceilings, ceiling tiles, windows, furniture in classrooms, offices, cafeterias, kitchens, halls, gyms, locker rooms, restrooms, all areas.
  • OUTSIDE: snow removal, salting, mowing, trimming, trash removal, painting and general upkeep in all areas of the district including playground, stadium, parking lots, sidewalks.
  • Maintain locker operation. Change combinations in the summer.
  • Clean Board of Education office as scheduled.
  • Receipt and distribution of delivered equipment and supplies
  • Keep records and plans as needed for maintenance and supplies.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment. Make recommendations to the supervisor for ordering supplies.
  • Maintain equipment. Supervise the installation of equipment as needed
  • Make all minor repairs and changes to equipment and building.
  • Perform all other duties or assignments made by the Supervisor/Superintendent or Superintendent Designee

Expectations

Expectation is completion of all assigned duties.

If it is unavoidable that you are absent, report as early as possible. Each employee must be excused personally by the Superintendent/Superintendent Designee

Under no circumstances will you have someone do your work. In case of an accident, only employees of the Board are covered by Workman's Compensation.

Have walkie/radio with you during shift.

Be pleasant, courteous, and friendly/be responsive to walkie communication

Be clean and neat in your appearance at all times.

Develop skill in using tools and equipment. Under no conditions are employees to take or loan equipment from any building, unless authorized by the Superintendent.

All repair work shall be done promptly. If unable to make repairs the supervisor shall be notified immediately.

Use all supplies wisely and efficiently.

All safety precautions should be taken. PPE is to be worn

Complete all training assignments from Supervisor/District and in Public School Works

Help willingly with the many odd jobs and requests by the supervisor

Co-operate completely with the Superintendent,
