THE JOB:

The Vice President, Cybersecurity Technical Risk Oversight is a highly visible and influential global leadership role that drives WBD’s technical cybersecurity risk oversight program, provides change leadership and sets the bar for excellence in cybersecurity and tech risk. Combining business insight with technical competence, this leader assists in improving the cybersecurity posture with respect to technology and risk. This role will support the business in achieving organizational objectives while not compromising its security posture. As a member of a growing organization, you will have the opportunity to shape and further refine your remit. Finally, establishing and fostering exceptional partnerships with leaders and teams across WBD, especially Global Tech teams, Privacy, Legal, Internal Audit, other risk management functions at WBD and within Global Information & Content Security (GICS) is key to success.

Technical Risk Oversight (40%)

  • Act as WBD’s global leader on Information and Content Cybersecurity Risk, by providing the overall direction and strategy of the enterprise cybersecurity Risk Management function, in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Chair the Cybersecurity Risk Committee quarterly; leading the evaluation of cyber threats and corresponding updates to WBD’s risk register.

  • Work to ensure that technology and processes are designed to mitigate technology and cyber risks, aligning with WBD’s risk appetite.

  • Maintain strong relationships, partnership, execution focus, and mutual support with other corporate/business lines, working to understand business processes, applications, projects, and technologies to ensure information security risk management objectives are delivered, and drive a cohesive view of information security risk throughout WBD.

  • Lead development and implementation of formal processes and procedures to support WBD’s information security risk oversight strategy and advise on activities and financial investment to accomplish strategic objectives.

  • Drive Merger & Acquisition due diligence and integration activities to identify and develop risk mitigation strategies.

  • Proactive management and understanding emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and control techniques and communicating this information to leadership.

  • Build and maintain relationships with technical leaders, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand and evaluate implementation plans, business priorities and technical solutions to ensure risks are well communicated and understood by the key stakeholders

  • Independently assesses technology and/or cyber risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.

  • Monitors, evaluates, and challenges Key Risks and associated Key Risk Indicators triggers and thresholds.

  • Challenge the design, adequacy and strength of the cybersecurity control environment associated to technology and cyber and recommends actions to ensure the operational risk profile is in line with the technology and/or cyber risk appetite.

BUSINESS CYBERSECURITY OFFICE (30%)

  • Lead a small and agile team of business cybersecurity office Directors that are strategically aligned with critical WBD business units, supporting WBD’s business objectives while ensuring a cybersecurity posture that supports our risk appetite.

  • Act as a link between business units and our centralized cybersecurity functions, ensuring that security initiatives are aligned with business goals and priorities.

  • Partner with business and technical teams to ensure cybersecurity risks with major events (Olympics, Elections etc.), product launches (MAX, WB Games etc.) and M&A change moments are identified and mitigated.

  • Maintain a solid understanding of assigned business lines and supporting infrastructure to effectively handle the threat and risk landscape.

  • Lead the adoption and enforcement of GICS policies and standards across WBD.

  • Collaborate and support with corporate functions including Internal Audit, Legal, Privacy, Procurement, and others to ensure that WBD maintains a strong cybersecurity posture.

  • Work with all GICS leadership management team to drive the adoption of core security services (Identity and Access Management, Logging and Monitoring, Detection and Response, Vulnerability Management, Product Security, Cloud Security, and Content Security). Handle security exceptions for Global news operations, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and review processes are followed.

  • Continually evaluate the services and reach of the business cybersecurity office program, recommending improvements

VULNERABILITY OVERSIGHT (30%)

  • Lead WBD’s program for managing vulnerabilities across on-prem infrastructure, cloud and applications; guiding the process from finding vulnerabilities, to mitigating risk.

  • Manage WBD’s MSP to make sure scans are thorough and results are prioritized by how risky they are; assist and direct the process of resolving vulnerabilities and report on the status; and verify that the actions taken to fix them are working.

  • Drive vulnerability remediation with asset owners inline with established risk mitigation SLA’s.

  • Incorporate vulnerability risk into the broader GICS risk oversight framework, continuously evaluating the risk associated with the state of remediation SLA compliance.

The Essentials:

  • 15+ years of experience in a cybersecurity risk and/or related role

  • 10+ years of people leadership experience

  • 10+ years experience crafting strategic roadmaps, driving execution and leading change across the enterprise

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud technologies

  • 5+ years of experience with risk frameworks and principles

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as Business, IT, Computer Science

  • Knowledge of IP network infrastructure (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention), access control, data encryption and on-prem and cloud security

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal

  • Ability to present complex topics in clear, non-technical language

  • Ability to work collaboratively within team and across business and technology functions

  • Detail-oriented individual with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take ownership of and solve problems

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently within an iterative environment

  • Deep capability in applying risk principles to the business environment. Ability to clearly articulate risk concepts and results to business leaders and navigate collaborative and informed decision making.

  • Proven experience with key performance indicators and key risk indicators and the ability to set, apply, and report them on a regular basis.

  • Can effectively connect with both technical and non-technical staff. Ability to translate sophisticated technical concepts into plain English and present them in a way that decision-makers can understand.

  • Positive influencing skills both verbally and through the preparation of written materials in order to build relationships, influence and negotiate.

  • Strong project management and delegation skills in prioritizing and reprioritizing projects of various size and complexity across multiple functional groups and departments.

The Nice to Haves:

  • One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CRISC, CISA

  • 5+ years of prior experience in a related field (media, entertainment, business development or streaming services industry experience a plus)

  • Familiarity with streaming and similar products/services

  • Experience working in a national or global company

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $177,380.00 - $329,420.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
