Waystar Sr. Specialist Dev Ops Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are looking for an outstanding, brilliant, and driven engineer to join our growing team.

As a Senior Specialist Application Engineer on our DevOps team you will primarily be responsible for architecting, designing and executing a vision for how we implement DevOps methodologies at Waystar for technology teams.

Your experience should include building and maintaining automated systems as well as being comfortable working in multiple technology stacks and systems.

This position is considered a senior level position in the team and would be responsible for leading department initiatives and projects as well as mentoring other team members.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create a vision for the Waystar infrastructure automation platform to be used across the entire enterprise

  • Develop a migration plan to move all teams to the infrastructure automation platform

  • Lead the team through the execution of the vision and migration plan for the infrastructure automation platform

  • Responsible for developing and augmenting applications based on the functional and technical specifications

  • Adheres to Waystar coding standards and the approved technologies, proposing amendments to either when necessary

  • Attends to any work items assigned through the internal case system in a timely fashion

  • Takes ownership of work items assigned, communicates estimates and daily progress as part of the SDLC process, and actively works to resolve issues blocking progress

  • Provides estimates for project tasks using an internal project tool, and updates the estimates if they increase or decrease

  • Solves complex technical problems with little oversight

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

  • Solid foundation of container and orchestration systems including Docker/OCI runtimes, Kubernetes and Helm.

  • Proficient in one or more scripting language: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Go, or equivalent.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible

  • Strong understanding and practical application of GitOps and other DevOps methodologies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment & welcome change

  • Highly self-motivated

  • Ability to work both in team and solo environments

  • Experience building highly scalable software solutions

Preferred Skills:

  • N-Tier and SaaS development experience is preferred

  • Strong understanding of CICD pipelines

  • Experience with .NET Core, Java and PHP

  • Experience with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud

  • Monitoring and APM tooling experience (Splunk, New Relic, DataDog, Grafana)
