The Audit Senior – Wealth Management is responsible for:

1) the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan;

2) assisting with other audit advisory services and special projects;

3) actively participating on audits in all phases of the audit, including planning, execution, and reporting; and

4) at times leading internal audit team members. The position will focus on the Wealth Management line of business audit portfolio, which includes fiduciary account administration, investment management, and private banking.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform work under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager, which can include individual or multiple audit assignments and leading audits

  • Document audit procedures in a quality manner and in compliance with the IIA Standards and department’s audit methodology

  • Conduct risk assessment of assigned department or functional area in established/required timeline

  • Establish risk-based audit programs

  • Determine scope of review in conjunction with the Internal Audit Manager

  • Review the effectiveness of internal control design

  • Conduct audit testing of specified area and identify reportable issues and dimension of risk

  • Assess compliance with policies and procedures

  • Verbally communicate findings to senior management and draft comprehensive and clear issues

  • Review audit work papers prepared by the audit staff to ensure quality and compliance with the department's audit methodology

  • Lead teams with focus on creating a positive and inclusive work environment

  • Collaborate directly with clients, identifying and addressing client needs through building solid relationships with clients; understanding the client's business; actively participating in client discussions and meetings

  • Manage day-to-day engagement operations, including preparing concise, accurate documents and balancing project management with the occurrence of unanticipated issues; demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks; and communicate potential conflicts to leadership

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required

  • CPA, CIA, CFIRS, or MBA or progress toward obtaining these certifications are preferred

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience working in an Internal Audit department or public accounting firm

  • Banking industry experience and exposure to the Wealth Management function a plus

  • Knowledge of trust and fiduciary business activities preferred

  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills

  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and quickly adapt to change

  • Demonstrated success in assessing and documenting risks and controls and developing an audit scope and procedures in a changing environment

  • Exemplify a positive attitude, strong work ethic, team work and professionalism

  • Ability to travel (5%)

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
