JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for understanding, disseminating and adopting Enterprise Data Management requirements for Data that resides in each function source system and/or data assets. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of data during the transfer from source systems into data assets through provisioning to Data Output Owners and Data Consumers. Applies a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end data processes/flows and concepts to implement frameworks, processes, controls, models, and solutions to ensure data is effectively managed across the organization or within a specific business unit. Be able to set the standards for fit for use when applying data into business decisions. Drives data stewardship and other relevant data accountability structures across business and technology organizations to ensure data is effectively managed. Drives organizational change as necessary to implement data frameworks, processes, controls, etc. across the organization or within a given business unit. Defines or supports others in the definition and on-going maintenance/management of data. Drives out the identification and mitigation of data issues as necessary to support organization priorities. Identifies and champions the implementation of data process and practice improvements.

  2. Applies knowledge of best practices derived from experience and external networking to solve a range of complex technical and operational problems.

  3. Fully understand Enterprise Data Governance policy and implement into practice function

  4. Have a strong passion for data. View data as a strategic asset. Takes a new perspective on existing solutions to solve complex problems. Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  5. Leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; plays significant roles in larger, more complex initiatives.

  6. Impacts a range of client, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.

  7. Explains and interprets complex, difficult, or sensitive information. Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience.

  8. Works independently and receives minimal guidance.

  9. May have people management responsibilities for a small team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. In-depth knowledge of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies associated with the data management and data governance discipline (e.g., information technology, project management, finance, risk management, etc.).

  3. Adhere to data management practices including data change management and demand management

  4. Understands foundational concepts of other related professional disciplines.

  5. Experience managing small data projects.

  6. Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape, data best practices and the factors that differentiate SunTrust and its competitors in the market.

  7. Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences and build consensus among different stakeholders.

  8. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree or MBA and 6 years of related experience. Previous experience in the banking industry.
