AIG Product Owner in Atlanta, Georgia

About the role

A Product Owner is a Global role Responsible for bridging the gap between business operations within an insurance company and the technology teams developing systems, by defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog for Global UW systems, ensuring they effectively address business needs and deliver value to stakeholders through an agile development process, with a deep understanding of insurance operations workflows and customer journey. Product Owner will support Product Owner, Commercial Business Leaders, CUO Office COO’s and IT to implement systems ecosystem supporting business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy:

  • Collaborate with insurance operations leadership to understand business goals and translate them into a clear product vision for operational systems aligned with North Star vision

  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap aligned with business priorities, including new features and enhancements for operational efficiency.

  • Backlog Management:

  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize user stories and requirements from across insurance operations teams, including claims, underwriting, policy administration, and customer service.

  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring items are clearly defined with acceptance criteria and prioritized based on business value.

  • Agile Collaboration:

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure the development team is aligned on priorities and delivering value.

  • Work closely with the development team, providing clear direction and answering questions to facilitate smooth execution of sprints.

  • Stakeholder Management:

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the organization, including operations managers, business analysts, IT teams, and compliance officers.

  • Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to inform product development decisions and ensure alignment with business needs.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational efficiency and user experience to identify areas for improvement.

  • Analyze data to support decision-making and prioritize product backlog items based on impact and feasibility.

    Qualifications:

  • 10+ year’s experience in Insurance Operations, Underwriting or Product Management

  • BA/BS degree required; graduate degree preferred.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Insurance Domain Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of insurance operations processes, including policy lifecycle, claims management, underwriting, and customer service workflows.

  • Product Ownership Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize features, manage the backlog, define acceptance criteria, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Excited with change and has successful track record in supporting change and transformation opportunities to enhance the customer experience in complex environments.

  • Technical Understanding:

  • Understanding of technology systems and how they integrate with insurance operations.

  • Metric oriented, with a track record of delivering value add solutions, data driven decision maker who utilizes data to direct decision making.

  • Communication & Stakeholder Management:

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders and manage expectations.

  • Data driven and oriented, with ability to focus on key elements that drive difference.

  • Agile Methodology:

  • Proven experience working in an Agile environment with knowledge of Scrum practices and ceremonies.
