Overview

Mailchimp is a leading marketing platform for small businesses. We empower millions of customers around the world to build their brands and grow their companies with a suite of marketing automation, multichannel campaign, CRM, and analytics tools.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to help us build and enhance Mailchimp functionality across multiple product development teams. Your work will involve all layers of product, infrastructure, and architecture. You will set technical direction, represent areas of the product for the company, and guide teams of engineers through challenging decisions and implementation. In addition to technical expertise you must also be a skilled communicator and collaborator comfortable working across multiple teams and departments.

As a Principal Engineer, you will work closely with multiple teams across various foundational areas of our application. You will collaborate with our Identity team to design and implement scalable and efficient processes that power our platform. You will also work with our Human Assist team to ensure seamless integration with systems and services. Finally, you will work with our front-end infrastructure team to ensure that our user interface is responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing. Your expertise and leadership will be critical in driving the success of our platform and ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

What you'll bring

• You have extensive experience working in large-scale distributed technology environments with teams spanning many locations.

• You have exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• You have significant experience building and scaling consumer facing SaaS products and the underlying infrastructure necessary for supporting extreme growth.

• You have experience with PHP, MySQL, React, Go, GCP, AWS.

• You are highly adaptable and flexible and able to provide clarity and encouragement for your surrounding teams.

• You are able to communicate effectively with all levels and backgrounds of collaborators across all departments.

• You are customer obsessed and focused on providing technical solutions to our customer’s problems and pain points.

How you will lead

• Collaborate with department and company leadership to help set the technical direction for Mailchimp’s strategy.

• Drive significant technology initiatives end to end and across multiple layers of product and architecture.

• Lead and support technical projects supporting roadmaps across the company.

• Ensure the highest standards for engineering design, implementation, and and testing.

• Provide and inspire innovations that fuel company growth as a whole.

• Mentor and train other engineers of all levels.
