WSP USA On-Call Senior Technical Manager - Geotechnical Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia

This Opportunity

WSP is seeking an experienced On-Call Senior Technical Manager - Geotechnical Engineer to support our Nuclear Quality Assurance program on an on-call basis. The applicant should have demonstrated experience working under Nuclear Quality Assurance Programs that meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement quality assurance processes for geotechnical projects, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare detailed audit reports, documenting findings, analyses, and recommendations. Ensure all quality assurance documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

  • Regulatory compliance: Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines. Ensure all geotechnical activities adhere to these standards. Prepare Safety Analysis Reports to support Early Site Permit, Construction Permit, and/or Combined Operating License Applications for submission to the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC).

  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure effective implementation of corrective actions. Work with project teams to address and resolve quality issues.

  • Participate in the development and improvement of quality assurance processes and procedures within the organization. This may include training of project personnel to enhance quality assurance knowledge and skills.

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the geotechnical program management team. Technical review of Subcontractor reports for borehole and surface geophysics, cone penetration testing, SPT hammer efficiency testing, and specialized laboratory testing.

  • Performing geotechnical analyses and design related to earthquake engineering (evaluation of liquefaction potential, seismic hazard analysis, ground response analysis, and soil-structure interaction).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering. Master's degree/PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline heavily preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in quality assurance within the nuclear industry, with a focus on geotechnical projects.

  • Professional Engineer Registration.

  • Meets the requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
