Emory University School of Nursing invites applications for a full time Research Projects Manager position to manage a research team of staff members and graduate students and overseeing the day-to-day operation of federally-funded, multi-site research studies of dementia caregiving and home dialysis (Principal Investigator, Dr. Mi-Kyung Song). Research methods involved in the current and immediate future projects include longitudinal observation cohort study, qualitative interviews, cognitive interviewing, surveys, and user-centered technology development and testing.

This position reports to and works closely with Dr. Song to implement her directives and manage multiple projects, study sites, and team members. The overall responsibilities will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of research projects and manage study sites and staff. This will include (1) managing, supervising, coordinating, and training all recruiters, data collectors, including graduate students assigned to projects, and study site orientations; (2) coordinating and monitoring study site activities and performances; (3) developing and maintaining study procedures, data booklets, study protocols, training manuals, and human subjects protection documents; (4) participating study activities as needed; (5) managing budgetary and project records; (6) managing REDCap database, overseeing data management, and generating study progress reports; (7) coordinating investigator site visits and meetings; (8) preparing and maintaining regulatory documents; and (9) assisting the PI in progress reports to NIH, scientific presentations, and publications as directed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing complex research projects.

  • Using an advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques, assists in the planning and development of survey instruments, guidelines and procedures to collect required data.

  • Coordinates various aspects of the study.

  • Drafts and may edit text for studies.

  • Analyzes data, identifies data discrepancies and researches and identifies causes.

  • May perform statistical analysis of numerical data.

  • Actively contributes to the development of research protocols.

  • Determines how research methodologies or tools must be modified.

  • Ensures that study data and systems are maintained and accurately documented.

  • Analyzes data and develops reports to assess or monitor study performance and treatment results; may develop associated operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.

  • May oversee regulatory compliance efforts.

  • May develop and submit grant proposals and advise principal investigator of changes in reporting or accounting requirements.

  • May monitor expenses and receipts for active protocols.

  • Coordinates and conducts special meetings and presentations.

  • Coordinates computer support for ancillary studies conducted at off-site locations.

  • Collaborates on reports and papers.

  • Assists in the preparation of tables and graphs for publication and presentation.

  • May design and develop databases related to specific programs at the request of supervisor and/or Principal Investigator.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, sociology, and psychology or related discipline and two years of professional level research experience, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Substantial staff hiring and supervisory experience

  • Excellent skills in team building

  • Fluent in Spanish (both oral and written)

  • Data management and analysis skill

  • Ability to follow-through and to pay attention to detail

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
