Job Description Summary

The Lead Logistics Project Manager is managing a regional logistics project portfolio in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The Lead Logistics Project Manager is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects and services as well as providing logistics support, consultation, and finding optimal mode and way of transportation and obtaining best possible transportation rates to support the business’s targets.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Execute outbound global logistics functions to GE’s end customer.

  • Monitor PO’s. Plan and coordinate with Buyers, vendors, freight forwarders and carriers to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of goods. Monitor and rectify import shipment exceptions.

  • Act as the customer point of contact for project Logistics supporting the GE Project Manager. Oversee and maintain project plans and freight estimates to support customer project communication.

  • Conduct RFQ’s for internal stakeholders to provide cost/cycle scenarios.

  • Develop logistics strategy to optimize cycle cost within baseline budget (EAC – Estimate At Completion).

  • Manage & Reporting of full project lifecycle Budget/EAC.

  • Support timely and competitive total landed cost logistics quotes required throughout ITO/OTR cycle in conjunction with mode specialist.

  • Support logistics cost ITO strategies that include forecasting, market and infrastructure data and ensure proposed costs are accurate and competitive.

  • Maintain project logistics risks and opportunities enable proactive upstream and downstream influence (Factory/Sourcing/Projects/Repairs/Parts) in leakage mitigation and savings opportunities.

  • Identify and implement best cost solutions regarding transport mode, route, carrier selection, container utilization and consolidations, for ocean, air and over the road freight, material flow improvement.

  • Cargo Management. Maintain shipment schedules. Develop, maintain and distribute shipment status reports to key stakeholders. Monitor and maintain in-transit inventory report to ensure accuracy.

  • Oversee inbound container receipts for drop shipments and direct imports to customer. Ensure timely delivery of direct to customer imports, in compliance with routing guidelines, as required.

  • Monitor and track demurrage, detention, to reduce cost and ensure accuracy of charges with carriers.

  • Systemically record shipment details, enter and release receivers, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data for key stakeholders using applicable tools.

  • Oversee process to ensure accuracy of commercial invoices and packing slips, report discrepancies and reconcile purchase order variances.

  • Review and maintain document flow processes, including commercial invoice, packing slip, B/L, COO or other documents for accuracy and in compliance with CBP and other regulatory and internal standards. Track and ensure timely document availability.

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, Customs brokers and carriers to resolve problems/issues.

  • Assist in execution of regional transport programs. Assist with internal/external audits, record keeping and reporting, as needed.

  • Assist in managing shipment and custom activities for import services.

  • Assist in the negotiation of domestic freight contracts.

  • Inform cost changes, shipment issues, supply concerns to respective personnel and team in timely manner.

  • Maintain good relationship with carriers and service providers to improve overall business performance.

  • Collect transport drawings and supply to carriers.

  • Remain accountable for all defined KPIs and their trends. Understand the drivers, facilitate the related reviews and have the necessary actions, timelines.

  • Responsible for the quality related escalations, coordinating the CoPQs, RCAs with the proper logistics function and recommending solutions to drive sustained improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, project management, or supply chain function.

Desired Qualifications:

  • International logistics experience: transportation, customs, supply chain standards, geographical concerns, free trade agreements, accreditives.

  • Demonstrated interaction and execution of transaction utilizing roll on/roll off, break bulk, specialized truck and rail moved.

  • Knowledge of English on advanced level is must and ideally one other language is welcome.

  • Proven leadership and facilitation skills, ability to work independently.

  • Comfortable in matrixed cross-functional environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

  • Problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Planning and organizational skills.

  • Computer skills (must be competent in MS Excel, Power Point).

The base pay range for this position is $90,000.00 -$110,000 . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. ​

*The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
