How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The General Manager of Disability and Leaves in GHW leads and oversees the administration of Delta’s Disability and Leave program administration. The GM will design policy and process enhancements. The GM will also be responsible for implementing Delta strategic priorities, including but not limited to DE&I, employee wellness, and employee experience within the Disability and Leaves space.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Disability, paid family leave, statutory disability and leaves (including FMLA and USERRA) to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws

  • Ensure that on-going disability and leave of absence management meets service delivery standards and industry best practices.

  • Manage benefit premium billing process for employees on leave of absence

  • Maintain a positive work environment that supports high performing teams and rewards people based on performance.

  • Manage the performance of teams through insightful communications, regular 1:1’s, team meetings and reward and recognition programs.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance indicators for staff. Provide feedback, training, and performance management as needed.

  • Provide oversight and intervention for escalated leaves to senior leaders and HR

  • Respond to escalations, providing root cause analysis and recommendations. Develop remediation plans and drive to resolution with minimal guidance from Director.

  • Provide training to staff to ensure that all protocols are followed under legal, regulatory and company policy.

  • Provide professional development opportunities to the claims management team to ensure they maintain competency and compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate policy.

  • Provide management oversight for overall program performance and day to day service delivery.

  • Consult with business unit HR and leadership teams on cases where the leave program or policies are silent or unclear and provide guidance where needed.

  • Identify State paid family leave laws and partner with payroll and vendors to ensure compliance with all paid FMLA laws.

  • Responsible to forecast staffing needs and recommend administrative efficiency strategies.

  • Manage and oversee the development of management dashboards for the Absence Management function.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in managing disability and leaves, including leading and managing relevant teams

  • Advanced skill in using Microsoft office products

  • Effectively manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to regularly exercise discretion and handle conflict

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with third party service providers and all levels of employees

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
