About the role

Are you interested in a Casualty claims position where you will handle and control the outcome of some of the most complex claims in our industry? If yes, this Complex Director position in the Major Claims – PSU group may be for you.
This position handles bodily injury and property damage claims in all 50 states. Your clients will be the leaders in their industry and some of the largest corporations in the world. A s a PSU adjuster, you will have direct oversight of complex and severe general liability, product liability, employers’ liability, and auto liability claims where AIG has primary and/or excess layers of coverage. You will be responsible for the i nvestigation and evaluation of 3rd party casualty claims with potential exposure to multiple AIG policies and directly negotiating settlements with some of the best attorneys in the United States. You will be traveling around the country to direct defense and trial strategy, presenting to senior AIG claims management and working with other motivated experienced claims handlers recognized as industry leaders. This position requires:
Determining scope and extent of available primary and excess coverage and issuance of appropriate coverage position letters;
Development and execution of investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation and damages;
Assessing and, as warranted, pursuing risk transfer and contribution opportunities;
Clear and concise communication and contact with internal and external stakeholders including insureds, brokers and underwriters;
Evaluating claim exposures and setting appropriate reserves;
Developing and implementing resolution strategies including utilization of ADR;
Presentation to senior management of claim disposition recommendations;
Independent and proactive negotiation of multi-million dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide after securing appropriate authority;
Effectively managing litigation costs in coordination with counsel, vendors, and insureds; and
+/- 25% travel.
What we’re looking for:
5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred;
Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills;
Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process;
Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.;
JD helpful but not required;
Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months;
For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range is $90,000-$120,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
