AIG Assistant General Counsel in Atlanta, Georgia

As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.

Performance Objectives

  • Effectively interact with underwriters, brokers, risk managers and customer’s in-house counsel to negotiate and draft claims service agreements for large commercial risks with complex workers’ compensation, general liability and commercial auto insurance programs.

  • Promptly and accurately complete claims service agreements with attention to regulatory requirements and AIG corporate governance practices.

  • Provide legal advice regarding insurance anti-fraud activities to the AIG Global Investigative Services unit.

  • Assist Associate General Counsel in the preparation of state fraud reports and filings.

  • Stay abreast of changes to laws and regulations regarding fraud matters and report to the claims team on those matters.

  • Assist Associate General Counsel in reviewing various state reporting requirements and provide guidance relating to any new requirements or changes in the law.

  • Be amenable to handle new matters or work on special projects requiring legal support which may arise within the AIG General Insurance business.

    What we are looking for

  • JD required; Must be admitted to a US Bar

  • 3+ years of legal or relevant claims adjusting/handling experience; prior insurance regulatory or transactional experience a plus

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high degree of initiative

  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Must have strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills

  • Must have strong computer and systems skills

  • Project management experience a plus
