Primary Purpose:

Responsible for assisting a team of 24/7 Operations Center (OC) resources to provide accurate real time troubleshooting, tickets and artifacts, coordination and escalation of any PTC, Energy Management, C&S and Wayside Detection related incidents to determine root cause and safely mitigate and minimize train delays.

Principal Du ti es:

  • Adheres to triggers and escalations of system or component issues that cause train delays or result in reportable incidents; manages up and across the organization.

  • Provides training to OC personnel to improve effectiveness.

  • Creates, reviews and approves procedures (SOPs) and enhances process improvements for efficient and accurate handling of issues.

  • Monitors system health for proactive handling

  • Interacts with Transportation and Rules to resolve operational anomalies and perceived compliance issues.

  • Maintains awareness of system hazards to correlate field reported issues with systems hazards and open defects to ensure they are reported accurately, resolved, or mitigated to an acceptable level.

  • Exhibits knowledge of PTC, EM, Signaling and Wayside Detection functions and interfaces

  • Cultivates collaborative relationships with train crews, C&S field forces, NOC and Mechanical teams.

Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 2-3 years

Preferred Level: 3-7+ years

Educa ti on:

Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS)

Preferred Majors: Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business (any)

Technical Skills:

MS Office 365

Splunk and Spotfire

Utilize and toggle between a dozen applications for support (Remedy,

PTC Mon, UTCS, CHRIS, Xterm, TYES, Achieve, LMIS, OpsConsole, etc.)

Knowledge of Norfolk Southern Operating Rules and Practices

Knowledge of system hazards

Knowledge of train operations, dispatch system

Knowledge of PTC messaging
