Description:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for effectively managing the activities of the Emergency Services; supervises the clinical team leaders as they direct and coordinate the daily operations and development of staff. The Nurse Manager utilizes knowledge of nursing practice and applies the management principles of planning, organizing, directing and evaluating quality of nursing practice and patient care, as prescribed by professional standards. Coordinates educational classes to meet the annual competency requirement of the staff.

Position Requirements :

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Maintains current Georgia professional nursing license. ACLS, BLS, ENPC and TNCC required. Instructor in each certification is preferred. Membership in a professional organization preferred.

B. Education: Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing, able to read and write English, Baccalaureate degree, Master’s Degree in Nursing or Business preferred. Certification in area of specialty preferred.

C. Experience: Minimum of three to five years Emergency Services experience, at least two, which were Supervisory experience. Demonstrates leadership ability with excellent performance ratings.

Effective leadership qualities. Strategic management skills. Financial Management skills including budget and productivity. Effective marketing skills. Ability to direct positive change. Knowledge of Performance Improvement/ Risk Management skills. Human relations management skills. Ability to effectively direct patient care activities. Broad knowledge of related standards of care, technical and clinical aspects. Basic knowledge of computer operations. The ability to operate, problem-solve many different types of equipment. Must be able to deal constructively with conflict, collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to direct and provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served. Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate varied and complex operations. Must be able to select, supervise, train and evaluate employees. Counsels and disciplines staff as indicated and by policy and procedure. Accountable for these services on a twenty-four hour basis. Must be aware of possible electrical, chemical, mechanical and radiation hazards. Must consistently use universal precautions; maintain body substance isolation to prevent cross contamination between patients and personnel. Maintain OSHA standards.
