Confidential Employer Machinist Trainee in Aston, Pennsylvania

The purpose of the CNC Machinist Trainee is to learn to promote the growth and profitability of the company by ensuring all CNC and Manual Machined components meet and exceed the quality requirements as set forth by the company, achieve the highest possible efficiency on all work using advanced fabrication techniques, while adhering to the AS9100D standard.

The Machinist Trainee will learn the following:

  • Input G and M codes, program, set up, and operate Fadal and/or HAAS CNC Machining Centers
  • Set up and run conventional lathes, milling centers, and other machine shop related equipment and operations as needed
  • Adjust cutting feeds and speeds,
  • Calculate chords to define bolt circles
  • Select and utilize appropriate machine tooling in accordance with work piece
  • Perform layout that conforms to the piece to be produced.
  • Create set ups that are in support of parts to be machined based on engineered drawings therefore insuring 1st piece approvals as well as final quality approval.
  • Read drawings/blueprints and reference supplied process sheets
  • Work with decimals to the 10 thousandth place

The Machinist Trainee is also responsible for the following:

  • Responsible to maintain a safe, neat and orderly work area
  • Responsible for daily clean-up of area and equipment
  • Perform other related or non-related duties as assigned
  • Must be able to operate multiple Machine centers simultaneously
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·       Able to meet goals and objectives under direct supervision.

·       Mechanical aptitude

·       Computer aptitude

·       Must be able to read a rule, square, protractor, micrometer, tape measure to the 32nd, and other measuring devices

·       Experience using wrenches, mallets, squares, files, misc. shop tools, and various fixtures

Preferred Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Aptitude for math, problem-solving, computers, and mechanics.
  • Tool and Die experience

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Safety Glasses, Durable pants, and Steel Toe Shoes/Boots are required to be worn at all times.  Hearing protection, safety gloves, high visibility vests, and other PPE to be provided on an as needed basis.
  • No loose clothing is permitted on the shop floor.
  • Work involves considerable stooping, bending, walking and standing.
  • The ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly
  • The ability to lift and/or carry equipment/objects greater than 50lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FLSA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting quantitative and/or qualitative productivity standards.
