Actalent UI Developer in Ashburn, Virginia

UI Developer - U.S. Customs and Border ProtectionLocation/Hybrid: Mainly remote with occasional onsite presence in Kingstowne or Ashburn, VA)About the Role:

As a UI Developer at CBP, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working on cutting-edge systems that enhance national security, public safety, and facilitate lawful trade and travel. Your work will directly impact CBP’s suite of targeting and analysis systems, supporting law enforcement activities at all 328 Ports of Entry and strategic international locations. We are seeking a UI Front End Developer with Spring Boot and Microservices experience for a multi-year contract to support the ongoing modernization and maintenance of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) information systems using JAVA/JEE. This position involves designing and implementing JEE software applications using modern software engineering tools and methodologies, including Eclipse and Atlassian Products. The role requires working with users in an Agile development approach to understand requirements, then elicit feedback and refine solutions through demonstrations and presentations at formal and informal design reviews. The role documents the design according to the Government's system lifecycle methodology.

Hard Skills

  • Advanced Angular development (v10+)

  • HTML5, CSS3 (flexbox, flexgrid), SASS, theme development

  • State management (NgRx)

  • Unit testing

  • Microservices design

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3), jQuery, React, JEE Web Tier Technologies (JSP, Servlets, MVC Frameworks), SQL, XML, Unix/Linux, Database Connectivity (JDBC, JPA, Hibernate)

  • Single Page Application Development using JavaScript framework (Angular 8 or ReactJS 5)

  • Java/JEE

  • Experience with JEE Servers (Spring boot, Tomcat, WebSphere)

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work with large project teams

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with users and team members

  • Agility and responsiveness to feedback

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant UI development experience.

  • Must be eligible for a CBP public trust.
