Robert Half Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia

Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia. This role primarily focuses on managing infrastructure installation requests and reporting to the Infrastructure Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the data center infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of all hardware and software components.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate infrastructure installation requests from initiation to closure.

• Support building Power Downs/Single Sided Events.

• Certify infrastructure network connections and peripherals prior to handing off to DCS.

• Interface with various teams to provide additional infrastructure.

• Coordinate work requests with electrical contractor to meet all Service Levels.

• Provide detailed estimates of assigned projects, document requirements through direct communication with other members of IT or Project Management team.

• Create and monitor Tickets/TCMs for approval, Closeout/Cancel them once work is complete.

• Assist with rack level capacity management and MOA monitoring.

• Participate in meetings pertaining to BAU or projects INF work.

• Provides Root Cause Analysis reports regarding power issues.

• Coordinate the Infrastructure Installs including but not limited to the following:

  • Survey for Power installs.

  • Infrastructure & Rack installs.

  • Survey for Infrastructure Cabling (Fiber and copper).

  • New Data Center Build-outs.

• Oversee equipment procurement, including the ordering of all infrastructure materials, tracking Purchase Orders, and managing Infrastructure Stock. Requirements • Applicant must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician or in a related role.

• Proficiency in Network Operations Center (NOC) operations is necessary.

• Experience with Cable Assemblies and Cable Installation is required.

• Familiarity with Microsoft software and applications is essential.

• Working knowledge of Cisco Hardware is a must.

• Expertise in SAN - Storage Area Network is desired.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing work demands.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial.

• Must be capable of handling confidential and sensitive information responsibly.

• A willingness to continue learning and updating skills as technology evolves is necessary.

• Ability to work in shifts, during weekends, holidays, and outside of standard business hours when necessary. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
