Job Type: W2 Hourly Consultant, Temporary with potential to become contract to Perm

Work Location: Aurora, CO (Hybrid, 4 days onsite)

Rate: $30-40/hour

Company Overview:

Our client who specializes in the design and development of a global clothing accessories line, is seeking an interim, or Contract to Perm, Staff Accountant to join their team in their North American Headquarters based in Aurora Colorado. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with overall financial management within the organization.

Work Environment:

The environment is relaxed and lean, with a strong emphasis on work-life balance, collaboration, and the use of automation to perform tasks with minimal human intervention. Expect some overtime during the busy season (fall/winter).

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), process vendor invoices, and ensure proper documentation and approval.

  • Manage every aspect of the balance sheet, including transactional, inventory-based balance sheets. Ensure freight costs are balanced.

  • Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies.

  • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Handle cash, prepaids, and enter expenses.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Assist with tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and corporate income tax.

  • Collaborate closely with sales reps, marketing, manufacturing, departments, etc..

Ideal Candidate:

client is open to training a recent college graduate with an accounting degree. They're looking for an eager, junior-level professional who is tech-savvy, self-sufficient, and capable of thinking outside the box.

  • Must be able to work with and reconcile multiple currencies (USD and Canadian Dollar), with the Canadian Dollar reconciled in its own currency.

  • Sales tax experience is a significant plus.

  • NetSuite experience is highly desirable, but familiarity with ERP systems and/or QuickBooks is ideal.

  • Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, is essential.

  • Candidates should be detail-oriented and capable of self-checking their work rather than just following directions.
