Retail Sales Associates are often the first point of contact at our retail stores and responsible for providing exceptional customer service greeting customers and responding to inquiries. This role includes Cashiering duties, organizing and merchandising the sales floor and keeping product organized by following Goodwill standards.

Minimum Pay starts at $15.15 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Retail Sales Associate I is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by greeting customers in a welcoming manner and responding timely and professionally to customer inquiries. Sales Associates must help maintain a well-stocked and organized sales floor that meets company standards and be able to operate a point-of-sale cash register system to ensure quality of product and pricing is accurate at the time of purchase.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides excellent Customer Service upholding company values.

  • Provides assistance to customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.

  • Provides accurate cashier transactions and maintains a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.

  • Maintains a clean and organized sales floor by regularly cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking items up off the floor, putting away product from racks, carts, or baskets, as well as putting away returned or unwanted items.

  • Provides a safe, clean, organized, and well stocked sales floor and restrooms.

  • Follows all retail center policies and procedures.

  • Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.

  • Cross-trains in other departments or areas; act as a back-up for other areas as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience preferred.

Other:

  • Must be accurate with numbers and general calculations and understand the value of different coins and US currency.

  • Must be able to use basic math such as adding, subtracting, and multiplication.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

  • Must be able to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.

  • Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight (8) hours per day.

  • Ability to see color for accurate transactions.

  • Must be able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
