FDGweb Client-Facing Solutions Architect in Arlington, Washington

Job description

Note: Must be physically located in United States (PST/MST/CST/EST).

About Us: FDG Web is a digital agency specializing in web design, development, and custom application solutions for mid-sized and enterprise-level businesses. We're a close-knit team that prioritizes delivering the highest quality service to our clients.

We are seeking a Client-Facing Solutions Architect to lead technical discovery, solution design, and technology strategy for our clients. This role will serve as a bridge between business needs and technical execution, ensuring that FDG Web delivers solutions that are high-performing, future-proof, and aligned with best practices.

In short, you know a lot about the various technologies, methods, practices used for designing and developing websites, web applications and troubleshooting, but this position is more about consulting and working with our clients than it is actually doing the development and production work itself.

Job Description: As a Client-Facing Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for leading technical discovery, defining architectures, and providing technical oversight for web and application projects. You will work closely with clients, developers, project managers, and our sales team to ensure that our solutions are strategic, scalable, and technically sound.

This is a client-facing, hands-on technical role that requires deep expertise in web development, troubleshooting, integrations, and system architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Discovery & Requirements Gathering

  • Lead technical deep dives with clients to understand existing systems, pain points, and business goals.
  • Conduct technical audits of websites, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and user stories.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, and frameworks based on business and technical needs.
  • Develop technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API specifications, and database schemas.

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Design scalable, secure, and maintainable web solutions.
  • Create technical proposals and solution architectures that align with best practices.  (e.g. "We will use "x" solution to solve "y" problem or need.")
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure proper implementation of solutions.
  • Provide technical mentorship and oversite to development teams.
  • Evaluate and select third-party integrations and APIs for client solutions.
  • Help ensure solutions are as future-proof as possible, avoiding unnecessary complexity or vendor lock-in.  (e.g. Be aware of end of life issues and upgradeability of proposed solutions.)

Technical Oversight & Risk Management

  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks before they become roadblocks.
  • Monitor project progress and collaborate with project managers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Address technical escalations and critical system issues.

Pre-Sales & Client Consulting

  • Support the sales team in pre-sales discussions, RFP responses, and technical proposals.
  • Participate in client presentations to explain technical solutions in business-friendly terms.
  • Estimate project timelines and budgets based on technical complexity.
