Position Description:

Looking for a data passionate data engineer to join our team at CGI. Learn and implement new technology and advanced analytical tools in a cooperative encouraging environment. Looking for an individual who can work with the client and determine best strategy for modernization of data repositories and then implement that plan. Should also be well versed in Data Governance and security.

This position is located in our USA VA Fairfax office with work performed at client site in Arlington, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Data Architecture and Design:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems.

• Architect and implement data models and database designs to support business requirements.

• Ensure data architecture aligns with industry best practices and organizational standards.

• Data Integration and ETL

• Develop and manage ETL processes to integrate data from various sources.

• Ensure data quality and consistency across different data sources and systems.

• Optimize ETL processes for performance and scalability.

Data Management and Governance:

• Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures.

• Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data systems and processes.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions into business processes.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

• Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems and pipelines.

• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and bottlenecks.

• Implement best practices for data storage, retrieval, and processing.

• Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering.

• Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve data infrastructure.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering process.

Project Management:

• Lead and manage data engineering projects from inception to completion.

• Ensure timely delivery of data solutions that meet business requirements.

• Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to align on project goals and timelines.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.

• Proven experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

• Strong experience with SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).

• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.

• Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of data architecture and data management best practices.

• Experience with data integration tools and techniques.

• Knowledge of data governance and data security principles.

• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Leadership and mentorship abilities.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $85,800.00 - $209,100.00.
