Jacobs Senior Architect - TS Clearance required in Arlington, Virginia

Jacobs has an opportunity for a Senior Architect supporting our long-term project in Washington, DC.

Position Description

The Senior Architect will manage and lead assigned staff responsible for individual, multi-disciplined real estate project solutions for clients, with direct accountability for project delivery. General responsibilities include:

• Act as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for construction projects.

• Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements. Provide recommendations based on observations.

• Prepare stacking plans to accommodate functionality and adjacency requirements.

• Prepare blocking plans, schematic or conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD. Ensure drawings comply with Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards.

• Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.

• Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing and answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports, walking the site and verifying accuracy and compliance of construction with drawings and POR requirements, participating in creation and closeout of punch-list, and more.

• Tracks progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines. Reports status and variances. Creates action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.

• Implements change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders. Assesses change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.

• Maintain knowledge on recent versions of the International Building Code and Commentary (IBC), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and all pertinent federal accessibility standards.

• Demonstrates knowledge of projects & project management within the context of business results (business case, larger economic implications, business risk, etc.).

• Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and federal agency clients.

• Manages project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team).

• Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members

Qualifications

• An active TOP SECRET Clearance is a requirement for this position.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from NAAB accredited college or university.

• Architectural license is preferred.

• Minimum ten (10) years of related experience and/or training in architecture, construction, engineering, design, facilities management, real estate management, etc

• PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.

• Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.

• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.

• Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using distinctive style.

• Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.

• Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

• Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

• Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.

• Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment.

• Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.

• Proficient in most current version of AutoCAD and/or Revit software.

• Relevant experience in architectural aspects of design and construction phase

• Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.

• Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, organizational policies, and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines
