Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage the full cycle accounting and financial reporting duties for the Retirement Security Plan. This role involves applying best practices and accounting standards to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, audits, and tax filings. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary accountant for a defined benefit retirement plan, providing financial advice and analysis to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the full cycle accounting and financial reporting duties for the Retirement Security Plan.
Apply best practices and accounting standards to manage daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting, financial reporting, audit, and tax reporting requirements.
Oversee monthly financial reporting processes, executive dashboard reporting, key metrics reporting, budgeting, and Form 990T and 5500 preparations.
Serve as the primary accountant and financial advisor to the Insurance and Financial Services Department regarding the Retirement Security Plan.
Ensure financial statements are GAAP compliant and completed in a timely manner.
Assist with overall tax compliance strategy, including compliance with federal and state regulations and filings.
Direct the preparation of all financial reports and tax returns in accordance with GAAP and IRS code.
Conduct in-depth review and analysis of expenses within the Insurance and Financial Services Department.
Provide financial advice and analysis to key stakeholders within Finance and Insurance and Financial Services.
Analyze monthly financial statements for the Retirement Security Plan and identify significant factors affecting financial performance.
Manage the planning and preparation of the Retirement Security Plan budget, including stakeholder meetings to ensure timely delivery.
Support permissible plan billing and ensure compliance with accounting records and billed amounts.
Monitor and analyze staff time charged to the Plans and provide advice regarding proper charging of time.
Oversee annual audit schedules, GAAP financial statements, and ad hoc analysis for the Retirement Security Plan’s annual audit.
Ensure timely delivery of audited financial statements to the Insurance and Financial Services Committee of the Board of Directors.
Prepare and submit schedules, reports, and questionnaires, working with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
Manage the preparation of draft audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred)
CPA, CMA, or CFE license preferred
Prior experience in Employee Benefit Plan Administration industry
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulations
Ability to serve as a financial advisor to management and staff
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication skills for diverse audiences
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to foster cooperation and consensus building
Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects
Service excellence through building relationships and being resourceful
Work Environment:
This position offers a hybrid schedule with on-site work required on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting and is part of a team of six people. There are ample opportunities for growth, with potential for promotion within a year based on performance.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00
