Amazon Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

This Corporate Counsel will primarily support AWS's Data Center Operations team, which is responsible for the operation, physical security, maintenance, and logistics of AWS data centers globally. The role involves working directly with business and other stakeholder teams to provide day-to-day counseling, contribute to projects, and address vendor issues. As counsel supporting a large international organization, this attorney must be adept at synthesizing legal requirements across many jurisdictions and providing risk-calibrated solutions. The role requires strong drafting skills and an ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable guidance.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation will be based on experience and includes equity compensation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree and admission to at least one U.S. state bar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent

  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

  • Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent

  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or French is a plus, but not required
