Applied Research Associates, Inc. Constructional Manager in Arlington, Virginia

Description

ARA’s team solves problems related to national defense and security. Currently we are looking for someone to join our team and contribute to solutions involving construction of facilities and capabilities of national importance. This position involves on-site supervision of ongoing construction projects and support to civil engineering planning.

Requirements of a Construction Manager

  • 8+ years of experience conducting and managing onsite construction projects including concrete work, electrical, and plumbing. Knowledge of construction technology.

  • US Citizenship Required.

  • Ability and experience in supervising and directing the work of sub-contractors.

  • Physical ability to stand, work, and move on construction sites across uneven ground for up to 10 hours per day.

  • Must be proficient in English.

  • Must be able to read Drawing sets and understand combined specifications.

  • Travel to onsite construction sites up to 50% of the time.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Candidates must be independent; self-motivated; and have excellent technical, writing, and presentation skills.

  • Must be able to obtain a favorable background investigation which will result in a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

What will you do as a Construction Manager at ARA?

  • Supervise all aspects of on-site construction management. Ensure projects are completed to standard, on time, and within budget. Work with one or more subcontractors on a construction site.

  • Performs change order estimates and work with the whole team for change order negotiations.

  • Work with A&E firms to develop construction plans.

Preferences

  • BS degree with 2-4 years of experience. Degree in construction management or civil engineering preferred.

  • Current TWIC.

  • Active Security clearance.

  • Active OSHA 30 certification.

  • LEEDS certification.
