Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and talented recent graduate to join the Program and Project Management ( PPM) East Team as part of its Assistant Project Manager (APM) Development Program for future employment, starting around June 2025 . This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Construction Program Management while working alongside experienced professionals.

Over a two-year period , the selected candidate will gain in-depth exposure to Program Management Services , contributing to real projects and client pursuits in the DC Metro region . As they develop a strong understanding of AECOM’s project delivery methods, they will transition into a large project PM delivery team , where they will apply their skills to high-impact projects.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a solid foundation in Program and Project Management while working with a globally recognized firm.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to

  • Become familiar with the commissioning services provided and assist the team with testing and deliverables

  • Work with the cost estimating team on quantity takeoff and change order pricing review

  • Assist with program improvement, including SOP and PMIS support

  • Assist in maintaining project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and permits

  • Exposure to field engineering and layout

  • Monitor project progress and report updates to the project team, including baseline schedule development and updates

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of construction projects from inception to completion

  • Support project managers in preparing budgets, schedules, and work plans

  • Conduct site visits to oversee work and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

  • Help identify and resolve potential project challenges or delays

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and safety procedures

  • Maintain consistent and clear communications with project stakeholders

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Ability to work at the Client’s site or travel as needed

  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Kahua, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera 6)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of the full project lifecycle and construction means, methods, and sequences

  • Ability to manage work requests on multiple projects at the same time, strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Basic understanding of contract requirements and engineering drawings

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in construction or project management (internships or co-op experience is preferred)Graduate-level degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture

  • EIT, CMIT, or equivalent level industry certification

  • Prior field project engineering experience

  • Prior experience in new building construction and renovation projects

  • Ability to use Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 and Bluebeam

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $72,300.00 - $133,810.00.
